Taps and Dies
Taps & Dies is an historic film demonstrating the use of taps and dies for the hand cutting of internal and external threads. Each step of this basic bench work procedure is shown including locating and drilling an initial hole, selecting of the proper size drill and tap, the use of taper, plug, and bottoming taps, checking that the tap is square to the hole, the hand threading and lubrication process, and techniques for removing a broken tab.
Although Taps & Dies is a black & white film produced in the 1950’s, the techniques and skills shown are as valid now as they
are then, and they are an indispensable learning tool for anyone performing this type of benchwork work in the shop.
